Miami’s Richard T. Farmer School of Business is the beneficiary of the Petters gift, which will create the Jenifer Petters Chair in Asian Business. A national search will be launched for an individual of national and international stature who will provide intellectual scholarship and leadership in this area for the school.

  "I am pleased to continue to invest in the school of business because I believe in the vision of the school, its strategy of instilling a global perspective in its students, and especially its new focus on China," said Petters, who is naming the chair in honor of his eldest daughter.

  Miami President Jim Garland adds, "Endowing the chair in Asian business will add strength and bring pertinent international focus to our students."

  Petters’ son, John, was a junior at Miami in 2004 when he died tragically while on spring break in Italy.

  Following his untimely death, John’s family, friends and business associates teamed to fulfill John’s dream by creating the John T. Petters Foundation. The first John T. Petters Scholarship was awarded October 11, 2004 to Marcella Williams, a sophomore at Miami University, Oxford.
