Miami Middletown’s Business Club recently sponsored an international
trade conference in cooperation with the Richard T Farmer School of Business, The Business and Industry Center for Continuing
Education, The Ohio State University and the United States Department of Commerce export division. The conference was a launching
point for future international business and trade programs for the regional campuses, and was well attended by business leaders, government officials, and faculty of Miami University. Two top level U.S. officials
gave keynote addresses, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce Eric Stewart
and U.S. Congressman Mike Turner of Dayton. Recognition was given to the two students who initiated and worked on the project,
Michael Lockwood and Kelly Trueman. Both Dean Dr. Kelly Cowan (MUM) and Dean Dr. Dan Hall (MUH) were most appreciative of
this student initiated effort to bring the community together with the regional campuses to solve global trade issues and
strengthen the local businesses with the tools and understanding of international trade resources available to them.
